Dear Millicent,
Apologies for not having written for positively ages. Life became a whirlwind after the confrontation at the Town Hall. How goes it in Baden Baden? My Great Aunt has informed me that you are now fighting fit and ready to come home! I cannot wait to see you. We shall all be there to welcome you when you do, with yellow ribbons, banners and copious amounts of tea, of course, which is customary.
I must tell you what has happened since the night of Peaseblossoms’ downfall. First of all, Percy is currently winging her way, via biplane, to El Salvador, to be reunited with their friend Jocasta. I can’t believe how very brave and full of daring-do they are. Of course,no one is taking any notice of their accomplishments in flying. It will be a man who first crosses the Channel etc. and of course it will be well documented and in all the papers. How will we know when we look back at history, what really happened, if they have omitted to tell us half the facts?
Then there was Percival, who was in need of some occupation, and has found one at last! The local horologist appreciated Percys' deftness with the village clock and so gave him employment. At the very least, he should have no problem getting to work on time.
As for Violet and the Professor? Dear Reader, she married him - under a full moon and it was all very romantic. All the wild animals in Christendom came and I could hardly see the ceremony for Bats. I do believe the happy couple will stay together forever, protecting wildlife and gazing up at the moon and stars with wonderment, which is as it should be. I wish them well.
Who else, ah yes, Miss Peaseblossom herself. I did write to her Millicent but I haven't, as yet, received a reply. I believe she is in Russia visiting old friends. The village itself, has returned to normal, even the Library has re-opened, hardly anybody frequented it before, but now all are clamouring to read the books that had been banned under Peaseblossom. I believe we are all feeling a renewed appreciation of our freedoms. The shops have sold out of Fairy lights but the gloworms have clubbed together and are stringing themselves along the lanes. The insects are back from wherever they were hiding, the birds singing once more and fungi is popping up all over to see if the coast is clear. Its all so very magical. Even I am glad to see the Gnomes are back in place!
There will always be the Peaseblossoms of this world, Millicent, unable to see what is truly magical about the world we live in, unable to understand that Nature is a law unto itself and that everyone, from the smallest of the small, deserves to live their lives in peace and harmony. We must always stand up to those that try to deny us that and speak out no matter what.
The Cat! I had forgotten the Cat. It turned up at my door last Friday , must’ve been the smell of sardines, and so I took it straight to the Vicar.
“I have found your Cat, I don’t want any thanks for it, I’m just glad it’s safely home.” I said, holding out the Cat at arms length.
The Vicar looked at me over his pincenez and said “You won’t be getting any thanks from me!”
I thought that rather rude from a man of the cloth and the Cat hissed in agreement.
“Well I’d be very grateful if you would just take him off my hands.” I sneezed.
“You won’t be getting any thanks from me, because he’s not my Cat! - My cat was returned to me months ago. I have no idea who that Cat is.” replied the Vicar and strode off to Vespers.
So it seems I have adopted a Cat or he has adopted me. And aside from my allergy, we rub along together well, as he too has a penchant for Haddock on Fridays. Oh and I can’t wait for you to see my Fairy wings, which came as rather a suprise but they look splendid, if do I say so myself, (although I have had to get new outfits to accommodate them and some doorways are a problem). I have always been a late starter and Millicent, as we now know, it is never too late to start anything.
Well that is about if from Wittering soon we can speak face to face and have tea whenever we feel like it. I do like a happy ending don’t you?

Temps Figut Millicent, I must round up the Ladybirds.
Best wishes
